On this page, you will find links to presentations and resources to help you discuss the political and society issues that are dominating the news at the moment. As a school we strongly support the Black Lives Matter movement and feel that we have a shared responsibility to support and educate our children on these issues. One way we can support our children is by having a discussion with them. While it may seem daunting to discuss such a emotive issue, it is important that children have the chance to talk about it and develop an understanding of the struggles that people in all areas society have to endure. This is not just an issue in the USA, but is happening everywhere – including St. Albans.
These resources have been designed to provide parents with tips and a process to start a dialogue with their children, where everyone can share their views and reflect on the current situation. Teachers will be focusing on the subject for the next couple of weeks. I would like to thank Anya in Year 5 for her powerful poster (left), which shows how our children have been moved to make a statement against racial inequality.
On this page you will find the letter, two presentations and a book list.
